You Made the Colors of My World Bleed

2003-2004 - Mixed Media - 24" x 30"

This is a painting of mourning and features photos of myself as a child. I intentionally chose several pictures where I was smiling and happy, representing the way a child should be. Even as a child, I leaned toward the artistic and loved bright, vivid colors. But the abuse changed the way I saw and experienced my world. At this point in my journey of healing, the anger and pain were beginning to subside, but I knew that the abuse had permanently colored my life forever.
