I was Innocent
Acrylic on Canvas; 8″ x 10″
I shed tears
for the child
that slipped away
for the childhood
that never was
for the adult that
could have been
for the innocence
that was dirtied
for the sadness
that never left
for the loneliness
that persists
for the future
that might be lost
Poem and painting created during a sad, dark time when I felt no hope and could see no light at the end of the tunnel.
